Scholarship Information:

21st Annual Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award - This award program was established by the Ohio Educational Service Center Association to promote student achievement and to recognize outstanding academic achievement. One senior from each county in Ohio will receive this annual honor. Application materials are required to be returned to the Butler County Educational Service Center by February 8, 2010. The Governing Board of the Butler County Education Service Center will be awarding a $1,000 scholarship in addition to recognition by Dr. Walters and the Ohio Educational Service Center Association. Applications are available in the Guidance office Scholarship cabinet.

KFC Colonel's Scholars Program - To qualify, a student must be graduating from high school between 12/1/09 and 8/31/10, maintain a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher, enrolling in a public, in-state college or university (start date no later than 9/30/10), pursuing a bachelor's degree, and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Students are to complete their application on at www.kfcscholars.org . The online application will be available from December 1, 2009 through February 10, 2010.

2010 Ohio Credit Union Scholarship Program - Your local credit unions are offering help to Seniors pursuing post-secondary education. Two scholarships will be awarded for $500 each. Your completed application must be returned to your guidance counselor or your credit union or you can mail it in to the Butler County Chapter Scholarship Committee, c/o Chaco Credit Union, 100 South Third Street, Hamilton, OH 45011-2816.   Applications must be postmarked on or before February 12, 2010 to be considered. Applications are located in the scholarship file cabinet in the guidance office.

Cargill Community Scholarship - Scholarship application and guidelines are online at www.cargill.com , keyword scholarship. Applications require the signature of a Cargill employee. Ohio Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarship Fund - Two scholarships will be given. The application and guidelines are in the scholarship file cabinet in the guidance office. Application is due February 15, 2010.

AXA ACHIEVEMENT COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP - Available to high school seniors who plan to enroll full-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the U.S. by fall 2010. An AXA Achievement Community Scholarship must be used for education-related expenses for the 2010-2011 academic year. Eligible students are encouraged to apply for all AXA-sponsored scholarships, but a student may receive only one AXA-sponsored scholarship. For more information about all AXA Achievement Scholarships, visit www.axa-achievement.com . You can pick up an application in the Guidance Office Scholarship cabinet or download from the above website. To apply, complete the application and have an unrelated adult complete the appraisal. Mail the completed, signed application with a current, complete official transcript of grades to: AXA Achievement Community Scholarship, Scholarship America, One Scholarship Way, P.O. Box 297, Saint Peter, MN 56082. Applications and required attachments, must be printed, mailed and postmarked to Scholarship America by February 15, 2010.

Eastern Kentucky University/Scholarship - All students who plan on attending EKU are encouraged to apply for scholarships. The scholarship application deadline for 2010-11 is February 15, 2010. You fill find the application inside the Senior View Book/Admissions Application, as well as on EKU's web site: www.scholarships.eku.edu , or in the scholarship file cabinet in the guidance office.

NATIONAL CO-OP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - Available to any high school senior who has a 3.5cgpa and who has completed all the required admissions applications material and been accepted for the 2010-2011 academic year at one of the National Commission Partner Institutions - University of Cincinnati, University of Toledo, Drexel University, Johnson & Wales University, Kettering University, Pace University, Rochester Institute of Technology, Wentworth Institute of Technology. Applications are available online at www.co-op.edu and the student must complete a typed one page essay (500 words).   Completed applications can be submitted online or mailed to the following address : National Commission for Cooperative Education, 360 Huntington Ave, 384 CP, Boston, MA 02115-5096. Deadline : February 15, 2010.

The Delta Kappa Gamma Society Grants - Gamma Xi Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Education Sorority will award two $500.00 scholarships to two different Butler County Seniors who are planning a career in education. One will be a Grant-in-Aid from the members of the sorority and the other will be an Alice Selby Walker Memorial Grant. Information and application can be found in the Guidance Office Scholarship cabinet. Return applications to both contact addresses to be considered. The contact addresses are: Mrs. Nancy McDaniel, 6688 Apache Way, West Chester, OH 45069; and, Laura Bickers, Program Director, The Longmont Community Foundation, 401 Main Street, Suite 102, Longmont, CO 80501. The student must have the application to the given addresses by Midnight on Saturday, February 27, 2010.

IOTA SIGMA PI - FLUORINE CHAPTER NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY FOR WOMEN IN CHEMISTRY - BP Scholarship - Available to young women in their senior year of high school who have demonstrated exceptional promise as future chemists. The BP Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement, participation in scientific activities, and community service. The application, instructions of the eligibility requirements and all the necessary instructions can be found in the Guidance Office Scholarship cabinet. The original application and four (4) full, collated copies (including transcript and letter of recommendation) should be submitted to Dr. Anne O'Connor, Department of Chemistry, Cleveland State University, 2121 Euclid, Cleveland, Ohio 44115. Applications must be postmarked no later than March 1, 2010.

Middletown Community Foundation - For High School Seniors graduating in 2010: Numerous scholarships available. Some of the Scholarships available to Monroe High School are: The Louis F. Cox Memorial AK-Steel African American Scholarship, Norman and Pat Hayes Scholarship, Marjorie Johnston Memorial Scholarship, Delores (Dodee) Saylor Communications/Journalism Grant, Mary Josephine K. Hyatt Scholarship, Nancy Cahill G.I.G.G.L.E.S. Scholarship, and Monroe High School Vocation Education Scholarship. Many more scholarships are available. Check them out in the Guidance Office. Applications can be downloaded from their website: www.mcfoundation.org and can be found in the Guidance Office Scholarship cabinet. Applications are due March 1.

Monroe Area Community Foundation - For High School Seniors graduating in 2010; Several scholarships available -James A. Macready, M.D. Memorial Scholarship, James M. Anderson M.D. and Bertha Anderson Family Scholarship, Walter L. Bake Memorial Scholarship, Monte Richard Miltenberger Memorial Scholarship, just to mention a few; Stop in the guidance office to see the complete list; Scholarships range from $200 - $1000; Applications are available in the guidance office Scholarship cabinet; Applications are due March 1st to Mrs. Hammond in the guidance office.

Citizens Against Domestic Violence (CADV) - Citizens Against Domestic Violence is a local nonprofit organization which acts to promote an awareness of Domestic Violence and the damage it does to individuals, and to family, church, and business relations. Available to students who attended a CADV presentation during high-school or college and must be pursuing a two year or four year degree program from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, criminal justice, education, or related field. The award money to be used for education purposes will be paid directly to the college or university in which the student is enrolled. Funding for $1000 scholarships is available this year to qualified high school candidates. Applications and information are available from the Guidance Office Scholarship cabinet or online at: http://www.cadv-ohio.com/home/scholarships/ . Application due: Friday, March 5, 2010.

SAMMY 2010 Scholarship - From now until March 5, 2010 teachers, coaches, principals, guidance counselors, athletic directors, parents and relatives are encouraged to nominate a student athlete for the SAMMY 2010 Award. Additionally, all high school seniors are allowed and encouraged to nominate themselves for the SAMMY 2010 Award. The program recognizes outstanding scholar athletes in grade 12 from high schools throughout the contiguous Unites States. An athlete from our high school could be one of the 25 winners who will each receive the following: A $7,500 college scholarship from the Milk Processor Education Program, and invitation for winners, parents and/or guardians to attend a SAMMY 2010 awards weekend scheduled for June 2010; and, an opportunity to be pictured in a special congratulatory Milk Mustache ad in a June 2010 edition of USA TODAY and other national publications. Miami University of Hamilton and Middletown/Scholarship - Available to students who are applying for admission to either Miami Hamilton or Miami Middletown. Application for scholarship must be postmarked by March 15, 2010. Information and applications can easily be found at the website: www.ham.muohio.edu or in the scholarship file cabinet in the guidance office.

Brenten Andrew Davidson Memorial Scholarship - Available to a male senior student of Monroe High School who currently plays high school soccer for Monroe High School. This individual must show financial need, character, work ethic and school spirit among other attributes. This scholarship will be awarded for first semester tuition at the applicant's selected college. Completed applications and other requested information must be received no later than
March 15, 2010. Applications will be found in the scholarship file cabinet in the guidance office.

BioOhio Annual Scholarship - BioOhio is pleased to launch the BioOhio Annual Scholarship Program - four one-time $1,250 scholarships in 2010 - in an effort to encourage and advance bioscience related education and career interests in Ohio. Available to a senior in good standing who lives in Ohio, and plan to pursue bioscience-related studies at an Ohio College/university. The application and information is available in the Guidance Office Scholarship cabinet and also online at: www.bioohio.com . Deadline for applications is March 19, 2010.

Butler County Retired Teachers Scholarship - Applications for $1000 - Applicants should be planning to become teachers at any level, and must include a copy of their transcript to be eligible for consideration along with their application. Information and applications are available in the Guidance Office from the Scholarship cabinet. Applications must be postmarked no later than March 26, 2010.

Ohio Newspaper Association - Minority Journalism Scholarship - This scholarship is intended for Ohio high school seniors planning to major in print journalism at an Ohio college or university during the 2010-2011 academic year. One $1,500 scholarship will be awarded. Please pick up a copy of the application in the Guidance Office Scholarship cabinet or download the application by visiting the website: www.ohionews.org and clicking on Scholarships. The deadline for applications is March 31, 2010.

The OACCS Legislative Scholarship Program - 2010 - The Ohio Association of Career Colleges and Schools, in cooperation with legislative members of the Ohio General Assembly and 48 participating career colleges and schools, are offering over 260 scholarships. The primary objective of these scholarships is to provide students with the education and training necessary to obtain a job in an Ohio business or industry. Available scholarships may cover one-half tuition, or a specific dollar amount programs. Awards for each individual scholarship are not transferable to other programs or schools. Finances for the scholarships are borne by the member schools and colleges and no state funds are involved. These scholarships are available to any high school seniors graduating from any Ohio High School in June of 2010 with a "C" average or better. Each applicant is eligible to apply for up to three scholarships. To apply you must submit two letters of recommendation with the application from teachers, counselors, employers or others and must be accompanied by a copy of your high school transcript and attendance records for the past 4 semesters and a verification of your GPA signed by the school guidance counselor or principal. A written statement of approximately 250 words explaining why you want a career in the field you have listed on the application is required. The application and instructions plus the List of Scholarship Programs and Amounts Available are in the Guidance Office Scholarship Cabinet. The deadline for application submission is April 1, 2010. Martha Seward Rahfuse Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship is available to any graduating senior with an interest in advancing his/her education at an accredited College or University. This scholarship is a one year scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00. Applicant must be ranked in the upper 25 percent of the graduating class and shall be in need of supplementary funds to finance their education. Applications and recommendations must be filed in the Butler County Educational Service Center no later than April 1, 2010. All the information and the applications and materials are available in the Guidance Office Scholarship cabinet.

The William D. Squires Scholarship - Will be awarded to 12 lucky seniors in the Class of 2010. The postmark deadline is Monday, April 15. This scholarship is primarily need-based. The maximum EFC was lowered to 7,999 in 2009. The eight page application includes the detailed eligibility requirements and all the necessary instructions. It is available from the website: www.wmdsquiresfoundaiton.org . Also, the basic information can be found on a flyer that you may be found in the Guidance Office Scholarship cabinet. The FAFSA Student Aid Report must be included along with a recent transcript, an essay, 2 letters of recommendation and their notarized application.

Monroe Lions Club Book Scholarship - Pick up your application for the Book Scholarship in the Guidance Office Scholarship cabinet and return back to your Counselor in the Guidance Office before April 16, 2010.

Monroe Athletic Booster Club 2010 Scholarship - At least a two year member of this graduating class; involved in sports at least two years - must be on a team their senior year; must have earned at least one Varsity letter; 2.75 CGPA; Financial need will be a key consideration but will not be the only factor. Two male and two female senior athletes will receive this award at the Senior Awards Ceremony May 19th. $500 will be paid directly to the college or post-secondary institution. Applications can be found in the Guidance Office Scholarship cabinet and are due to Mrs. Hammond by Wednesday, April 28th. Applications received after April 28th will not be considered.

The Marvin Lewis Scholarship - The Marvin Lewis Scholarship Fund was created to recognize and honor 10 outstanding male and female student athletes from our region on an annual basis. Candidates are evaluated based on a 1,000 word essay, established criteria of a minimum 2.75 grade point average, a proven commitment to the community, need and a varsity letter. Students can apply for the Marvin Lewis Scholarship by completing the application found on the link below and submitting a 1,000 word essay about what the scholarship would mean to them. The application will be available January 15, 2010 and it must be submitted by April 30, 2010. Website to download application and to get more information: www.cincinnatischolarshipfoundation.org .

B. Davis Scholarship - This Scholarship is available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any post secondary institution.   Amount of Scholarship is $1,000. 2010 Navy ROTC Scholarship - a value worth up to $180,000 toward higher education. The flyer with information may be picked up in the Guidance Office Scholarship cabinet. Also, the application may be completed online at: https://nrotc.navy.mil/ .
