Wrestling Looks to Carry Strong Start into 2017

Under the leadership of new Head Coach Shawn Thomas, the Monroe Hornet Wrestling team has had a great start to the 2016-17 season. Thomas assumed the reigns of the program this fall, he had previously served a the Head Wrestling Coach at Middletown High School. 
Thomas shared about this years squad, "we are a young team with just 2 juniors and 1 senior.  With mostly freshmen and sophomores we've placing higher in all tournaments as compared to last year. We are heading into the 2nd half of the season with a optimism heading into the state dual championships and SWBL championships on the horizon."  
One of the many notable highlights thus far in the season was Cody Tracey placing 5th at the Coaches Classic. Cody was the first Hornet wrestler to place since 2002. 
The Hornets will next compete on Saturday, January 7 at the Milton Union Bulldog Invitational. They'll return to Monroe High School to host a Tri Match on Saturday, January 21 against Bellbrook and Blanchester.
