What is solo and ensemble?
Solo & Ensemble is open to all students who elect to learn a solo or small group work.
The students prepare a piece for weeks prior to the event. They must also memorize basic scales.
At their assigned time, the student(s) perform their musical work for a certified judge who, by using state created criteria, assigns a score to the individual or group. The judges also give written comments to show area in which students excel or needs improvement.
Performance scores are designated on a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being the best.
Students who earn a score of 1-Superior or 2-Excellent receive a certificate and a pin signifying their achievements.
