The Hornets track team began their season at the La Salle Legends Track & Field Classic on March 26th. The opening meet for the Hornets was very successful after hard work by coaches and athletes in the indoor track season.
Rachel Ploeger placed 2nd overall in the 1600m Run en route to setting a school record 5:22 (first among Div. II Runners).
Thryceton Deckard was 5th overall in the 1600m Run with a 4:40 and 3rd in the 800m Run at 2:05 (first among Div. II Runners).
Senior Jacob Vires won the 100m Dash with a time of 11.35 and was 3rd in the 200m Dash.
Chase Morris was 2nd in Division II in the 110m Hurdles and 5th overall. In the 300m Hurdles Morris ran 44.09 to place 2nd in Div. II and 7th overall.
Alex Bannister was 2nd in the 100m Dash among Div. II athletes with 11.85.
Thrower Justin Bair heaved the shot put 37’8.5” to place first by over a foot among all Div. II athletes. The Discus throw placed Bair in third among Div. II athletes with a throw of almost 100’.
Freshman Ashlynn Yarletts won the Div. II long jump with a leap of 14’6.5” putting hear in the top 7 of all athletes.
Head Coach Seth Darrell is leading a growing program. This year the Junior High squad has over 70 members.
