Six Hornet student athletes represented Monroe High School at the annual Southwestern Buckeye League Student Leadership Conference on Friday, March 3rd. Once again, this years event was held at the Nutter Center on the campus of Wright State University. 

This years theme was titled "We Rise by Lifting Others" and students engaged in various activities in both group and breakout sessions throughout the day. The three individual breakout sessions involved the topic areas of: Positive Values and Perspective, Sportsmanship and Respect and Teamwork and Health Lifestyles. The breakout sessions were led by the 14 member school Athletic Directors of the Southwestern Buckeye League. 

Once again, nationally renowned speaker Harvey Alston led this years event. Mr. Alston’s message to the student athletes in attendance at this years event is based on his philosophy and the book titled “Be the Best.” Additionally, he is the Coordinator for the Ohio High School Athletic Association – Student Leadership Conference and serves on the advisory board to the Nation Federation of High School -Student Leadership Summit.

Students attending this year's event include: Freshman Anna Eschmeyer and Sam Jeffers, Sophomores Samantha Ross and Nick Osterman and Juniors Rachel Ploeger and Alex Page.
