CROSS COUNTRY RUNS TO VICTORY AT HOME

The cross country team along with coach Darrell and Wellman hosted the Alex Fultz CC invitational on Monday August 24th.  The event featured a 3200m race for junior high teams and a 5000m race for high school teams.   For the first time ever, the meet has grown to feature runners from 13 different schools.

The day started with a strong performance by the Jr. High girls cross country team.  The lady hornets won as a team finishing 5 runners in the top 15 of the race edging out the squad from Mars Hill Academy. See Results including a runner up finish by 

The most dominant showing of the day was the race of the Jr. High boys teams.  The young men running for the Hornets placed 9 runners in the top 20 to win with a meet low score of 23 points.  See the full results and look at all of the strong times turned in by runner-up Dustin Norris and his teammates.

The high school lady hornets put 5 runners in the top 16 and had an average time of 23:03 to win the high school girls race. Rachel Ploeger won the race by 30 seconds. See the team championship results from the high school girls race.

The high school boys race was the final event of the evening.  The Monore boys put up a great effort against the strong Div. I team from Middletown but fell just short in the tally.  The boys secured the spot as team runner up and averaged a time under 20 minutes as a team. See all of the results.

The CC team heads to Milton Union on Saturday to run in the Bob Schul Invitational starting at 8:00 am.
