Parent Notification of Training Required by State Law for K-6 Students

Apr 2, 2024

K-6 Health Curriculum Notification

Earlier this school year, Ohio's 135th General Assembly enacted House Bill 33, which requires developmentally appropriate instruction of child sexual abuse prevention to be included in schools' prescribed health curriculum for students in grades kindergarten through sixth.

As required by law, the district has selected the Fight Child Abuse curriculum provided by the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center Foundation. This curriculum includes various videos on child sexual abuse topics such as safe and unsafe touch. Students will receive instruction from their school counselor/s in class on one of the following dates:

  • Kindergarten and first grade: May 3-9

  • Second through sixth grade: April 29 - May 3

Please contact your student's school counselor if you would like your child to be excused from the child sexual abuse curriculum.
